Regent Guardians is run by Helen Collier; a parent who understands the importance of nurture and care for children of all ages.
Helen combines this with exceptional qualifications having completed a postgraduate teacher training course (PGCE) at the start of her teaching career and, more recently, being awarded a Diploma in Boarding Practice (Leadership) from the Boarding Schools Association (BSA).
She has more than 20 years’ experience in international education, having been Housemistress, Head of Boarding, Deputy Head & Assistant Principal in boarding schools in East Africa and across the UK until 2017.
By 2018 Helen had branched out into Guardianship having gained a clear appreciation of the scale and type of care and support needed by international boarding students, their parents, schools and colleges.
Communication is at the heart of Regent Guardians philosophy and Helen endeavours to ensure that all stakeholders are kept fully informed of developments so that everyone can share in a young person’s progress and best support them by working together in a caring and coordinated manner. Looking after the whole person is also vital to success and Regent Guardians, through its personal and friendly approach, seeks to develop meaningful and open relationships with both the students and their parents so that an honest and supportive dialogue can take place.
Helen is highly experienced and appropriately trained in safeguarding matters. She is the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Regent Guardians.
Caroline has worked in international education for 30 years. Since becoming a consultant in 2015 she has worked on many successful projects within the international school environment, including helping UK schools to establish new overseas branches and advising schools on international recruitment and all aspects of their provision for international students.
Before becoming a consultant, Caroline was Principal of Taunton School International and set up a new school for international children aged 8-14. She was also responsible for the international marketing of Taunton School, which included the recruitment of 454 students each year.
Caroline is currently General Secretary of BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students) and a member of the advisory group to the British Government’s All Party Parliamentary Group on international students.
As Education Consultant to Regent Guardians, Caroline supports in an advisory capacity, retaining her independence as director of Caroline Nixon Education Ltd. However, she also provides personal support to students, parents and schools if Helen is unavailable.
It is undeniable that my daughter’s life in school is very happy, and she has repeatedly told us happily that she trusts and likes you and we also trust you. The meeting with you at the opening ceremony made me feel very lucky I have also introduced Regent Guardians to my friends many times.
Regent Guardians gives me more than help and warmth throughout my first year in Cardiff. Helen really plays a role of my mum in UK, she is warm-hearted and always ready to help me solve my problems.
